Kasmot D Mime

He was born as Orlando Babatla in the city of Navotas, Philippines on February 28, 1980. He loves to draw and sketch since he was a kid. In high school his fondness with arts grew that made him won a slogan contest "Saving mother earth" at his school in the year 1993. He took up Mass Communication at Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1996 and became more exposed with the dramatic arts.
After leaving school in 2000, he started to work as a freelance mascot actor in Bata-Batuta, a well known children's TV show on 1979 and substituted to a stage production in the 80's, from which, became his first experience in silent acting for four years. He also dedicates his free time participating to film festivities and attending a workshop called 3rd Filipino Full Length Indie Film Freefest at the Cultural Center of the Philippines to get more experiences about acting and independent film making.
On 2003, he started his work as a professional street mime artist at Anthology by the Bay in Baywalk Manila and was branded by his manager with the name "kasmot", a tagalog slang, meaning ugly and rude but cute and decided to make it as his mime name. Afterwards continued his career performing at Residence Inn Tagaytay with his mime troupe Star Mime Artist in April, 2004 and became one of the artists who opens the heart of every Filipino to the art and joy of street mime in the country.
By the year 2006, his work as a silent comedian was put to the test, made him facing a lot of challenges with his acting in Zirkoh Comedy Bar in Quezon City. And exceeded working together with the best stand up comedians here in the Philippines.
In 2007, he started working at Venetian Macau as a Venetian Human Statue and Pantomime for two years together with the best musicians and singers around the world, promoting how world class Filipino in the arts of mime.
After his years of performing overseas, he continued to bring joy and laughter to his fellow Filipinos by engaging to TV' shows and social events across the nation.
